Things I would have liked to know at the beginning of my career

Share:

Today I bring you an article full of wisdom, and why not some fun touches, about the things I wish I had known when I started my career as a designer and marketer. After more than 27 years of experiences, ups and downs, and learnings, I am pleased to share with you some lessons that could make your career path an even more exciting adventure. So, get ready to laugh, learn, and take notes as we walk through this article together.

1. A race does not mark the end of your training, it is only the first chapter!:

Remember when we thought that once we got our degree, we would be experts and ready to face the world of work? Ah, the innocence of youth! The reality is that the learning does not end there, it is only the beginning of an exciting roller coaster of knowledge and experiences. So, fasten your seatbelts and get ready to continue learning on this endless journey.

2. Adapt or be left behind!:

Imagine a ballroom dance where the music never stops and the steps are constantly changing. That's the perfect metaphor for today's world of work. Adaptability is key to surviving and thriving in an ever-evolving environment. So, get out your best dance moves and be ready to adapt to the changing rhythms of the industry.

3. Specialize: the superpower of the world of work!:

Multitasking is like trying to juggle ten balls at once. In the end, they'll all probably end up on the ground. Instead, focusing on one specialization is like becoming a career ninja. Focusing on what we love and what we are good at makes us experts and gives us the opportunity to enjoy our work more. Plus, being a ninja is always cool, right?

4. Continuous training: the magic pill for the brain!:

In a world where information changes faster than trending hashtags, keeping our minds sharp and alert is key. Continuous training is like a gym for the brain, keeping it sharp and ready to face whatever surprises life throws our way. So invest in your brain, because it is the most powerful muscle you have!

5. Undertake: challenges and roller coasters of emotions!:

Ah, the entrepreneurship. Sounds exciting, right? But, watch out for the shaky rails and sudden drops! Undertaking is not a game of guarantees, it is a journey full of challenges, effort and getting out of our comfort zone.

6. Experience: the teacher of anecdotes:

As you accumulate experience in your career, you also accumulate a treasure trove of stories and anecdotes to share at family reunion dinners. From those projects that went crazy creative to the marketing campaigns that were smashing successes, each experience provides you with invaluable wisdom and hilarious anecdotes to tell again and again.

7. Professional relations: your work squad:

Don't underestimate the power of having a group of colleagues you can count on. Building strong professional relationships not only gives you support and collaboration at work, but it can also lead to hilarious moments and mischief at the office. Never underestimate the power of a good shared laugh during a boring meeting!

8. Balance: the art of pausing:

As you progress in your career, you will realize the importance of finding a balance between work and personal life. Sometimes even the most successful professionals need to take a break to recharge and clear their minds. So don't forget to plan those vacations or spontaneous getaways to keep your sanity and come back with new creative ideas and adventurous stories!

Conclusion to all this?

In short, the professional career is not just a series of serious lessons and moments of stress. There is also room for fun, laughter and experiences that make us grow and connect with others. Continuing education, specialization, adaptability, and balance are key elements in successfully navigating the world of work, but we can also find joy and camaraderie in the process.

Remember to enjoy the ride, celebrate your achievements, and always have an interesting anecdote up your sleeve to liven up any boring gathering.
